Do you go to the gym regularly, lift heavy weights or work out at home? Do you want to get your body ready for bikini season and try to burn more calories or exercise just to get in skinny jeans next weekend? When you have an intention to sculpt your body, you should understand that your individual workout plan will work only in combination with a proper diet and your persistence.

Sooner or later, people start thinking about what to eat and drink when they train, as well as before and after their workouts, and then they probably can get all adrift by a huge variety of sports food. Moreover, eventually, they wonder whether they need more proteins in their diets, and if it can do good for them at all. You may face the same problem and when you hear about the dangers of protein intake, believing that this idea is basically made up by people who have never consumed it or have no relation to sport. In addition, many products from our daily diet which we purchase at shops and markets may contain toxic substances themselves – read the labels carefully and you will be surprised! Thus, talking about dangers of protein intake is inappropriate. The basic truth is that protein is a natural food supplement that our body requires daily, and it is more valuable if it contains a more balanced amino acid composition in it. However, you should take note that the demythologization of protein is not complete without these facts:

  1. Proteins are involved in maintaining the body structure, as well as in the process of division, growth, reproduction and recovery of body cells and muscle synthesis.

  2. There are about 100,000 different proteins in the human body, which consists of various combinations of 20 amino acids and 18-20% of our body weight is protein.

  3. The life span of most proteins does not exceed two days.

  4. Our hair and nails are made of protein, which is called keratin. It includes sulfur,

and the more curled a person’s hair, the more sulfur it has.

  5. Protein-rich foods can prevent hair loss. Before you hair falls out and can be replaced by new ones, it must have been growing for 2 or 3 years, and in its growth phase, protein plays a key role. Therefore, protein deficiency can cause thinner hair. Eat protein-rich foods and your hair will look and grow better.

  6. Proteins provide us with 10 to 35% of energy. Each gram of protein is 4 calories.

  7. Vegetable protein lacks some amino acids, but it is accompanied by low fat and cholesterol, and has a lot of fiber.

  8. Quinoa, a very popular pseudo grain crops culture, contains all the nine essential amino acids, making it an excellent source of complete protein complex.

  9. Protein must always be a part of our diet because the human body is not able to stockpile it. As all proteins have short life spans inside our body, it constantly need to be replaced.

  10. High-protein diet helps to reduce body weight. You require more energy to digest proteins than other nutrients, and therefore expend more calories. However at the same time, it is important to remember that excess protein is harmful to health.

There are many types of natural protein, according to Protein Lifestyle, and when you decide to use it, it is important to know what type is better for you. If you find any signs of allergy or intolerance, it should be substituted. For example, vegetarians or those, who are lactose intolerant, can try soy protein. There are also some facts women should take into account before they choose protein sources.

Another useful tip before you purchase a large protein powder package – just try a small portion. It is important you like the taste of the new helper on your way to healthier body and stronger muscles. Then you can guiltlessly enjoy even a banana split after a good workout!
